DAGUPAN CITY – Pangasinan Fourth District Representative Christopher De Venecia, former Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr., former Fourth District Representative Gina De Venecia and Mayor Belen T. Fernandez inaugurated the new Tambac-Tebeng road here on January 26.
Along with the barangay officials of Tambac led by Punong Barangay Wilfredo M. Salayog and of Tebeng led by Punong Barangay Helen F. Fermill, the De Venecia’s and Fernandez led a unity walk from Barangay Tambac to Tebeng Elementary School where a short program followed shortly.
The road, which used to be dubbed as “abortion road” because of its bad condition, is now named as “prosperity road” after its reconstruction done under the initiative of then Fourth District Representative Gina de Venecia.
With the reconstruction of the road, Fernandez thanked the De Venecias for their support to the city especially the former speaker whom she called as “the builder of Dagupan City” because of his role in rebuilding the city after the strong earthquake in 1990.
“We would like to thank Former House Speaker Jose De Venecia whom I call “the builder of our city” and Former Congresswoman Manay Gina de Venecia for their support to all the programs in our city. Now under Cong.Christopher De Venecia we are seeing Dagupan transformed from “mula sa pag asa’t pagbabago, patungo na po sa asenso,” said Fernandez.
Also inaugurated was the Barangay gazebo built by the city for the residents of Barangay Tebeng and the livelihood center in the same barangay under the initiative of Barawngay Kapitan Fermill.
To date, a dike, which will protect the eastern barangays from flooding, is being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Tebeng.
“A new face of development is coming in our city and I support Congressman Christopher in his vision for more infrastructures that will bring progress in our city. Infrastructure means more investors and development to come that will spur progress for every Dagupeños,” said Fernandez.
