DAGUPAN CITY – Barangay Pantal has the best nativity scenes (belen) on display this year at the Paseo de Belen along De Venecia Highway.
This was based on the judgement of evaluators who deliberated on which among the participating entries or barangays has the best nativity scenes interpretation.
As a result, Barangay Pantal was declared as the big winner this year in the belen-making contest during the Barangay Night at the city plaza on December 27.
Led by Punong Barangay Julita Perez, Pantal received P50,000 for winning first place in the competition.
The second best nativity scenes belong to Barangay Salisay, which received P30,000.
The third best nativity scenes belong to the cluster of barangays Pugaro, Salapingao and Lomboy which received P20,000 cash prize.
The fourth place was won by barangay Mamalingling with P10,000 as cash prize while barangays Bolosan and Barangay 1 shared the same spot in the fifth place and received P5,000 each.
Congressman Christopher de Venecia, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and 2017 Hermano Mayor Councilor Marcelino Fernandez awarded the prizes to the winners and each of the participating barangays received a plaque of recognition from Mayor Belen and Councilor Lino.
Paseo de Belen will stay at the de Venecia highway until January 8 along with the carnival and will be lighted from 5:00 in the afternoon to 1:00 in the morning. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Dec. 28, 2017)
