CITY’S NEWLY RENOVATED DEBONING AREA IS NOW OPEN

DAGUPAN CITY – The city’s newly renovated deboning area at the Malimgas Public Market is now in business after it underwent upgrading to conform with the standards set by Republic Act 10611, otherwise known as the Food Safety Act.

Under the technical guidance and supervision of the City Agriculture Office, the new deboning area is more hygienic and equipped with smoking apparatus and blast sealing machine for making tinapang bangus and for maintaining the freshness of the bangus while in transit, than in any other deboning facility  in the city.

City Agriculture Officer Emma J. Molina said that Mayor Belen T. Fernandez wants to protect the health of Dagupan bangus consumers by making deboned bangus prepared in accordance with the standards of the Food Safety Act.

This   was the reason, she said, why the city remodeled this structure patterned after the Seafood Food Processing Plant of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Bonuan Binloc,” she said.

The city will charge 50 centavos per piece of bangus from fish producers and businessmen using the facility. Other services to be availed of in the facility are a smoke machine for tinapang bangus, and blast sealing or marinating.

In the long run, we hope to see all our bangus concessionaires in the city use the facility so we can  assure our consumers that what they buy from our market are clean and fit for consumption without sacrificing their health, added Molina.

The equipment in the facility were obtained through the partnership between the city and the Department of Trade and Industry. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Jan. 24, 2017)
