DAGUPAN CITY – The staff of the National Audit Committee of the Presidential Awards for Child-Friendly City of the Council for the Welfare of Children headed by Executive Director Patricia B. Luna are here to audit the city’s programs and projects that promote  the rights and welfare of the children. This is because Dagupan was nominated as a national contender for the 2015 Presidential Award for Most Child-Friendly City when it was recognized anew by the Regional Committee for the Welfare of the Children (RCWC) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as the Most Child-Friendly City in Region 1 on the occasion of the 2015 Regional Children’s Month held at HoteLinda Suits in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur last November 27. “We are proud to welcome Executive Director Patricia B. Luna and her staff from the National Audit Committee of the Presidential Awards for Child-Friendly City of the Council for the Welfare of Children who are in our city today to audit our programs and projects that promote the rights and welfare of the children. I am proud to say that our city has been nominated again for the Presidential Awards for Child-Friendly City,” said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez. She expressed hopes that the city will be able to share with the group what her administration has  done to the children for the past two and a half years. This city was  conferred with the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) for its commitment in promoting child rights to survival, development, protection and participation, towards a Child-Friendly Philippines: A Caring and Protective Society For, By, and With the Children last 2014. "For this, I am truly grateful. All of these are good works of so many people who truly love children,” she said. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Jan. 25, 2015)
