DAGUPAN’S E-LIBRARY TO OPEN FEBRUARY 13

DAGUPAN CITY – The city’s first e-library will soon be opened to elementary, high school and college students who are residents of the city.

In meeting the officers of the Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran (MYK) on February 1 at the e-library located in Poblacion Oeste, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez disclosed that the scheduled opening of the library is tentatively set on February 13.

 The e-library is equipped with 50 units of computer sets with fast wi-fi connection.

“This library was built to serve our students,” said Fernandez.

The e-library will also be installed with e-books for reference and research guide of students as well as classic novels and other applications that are useful for the learners.

Fernandez said the project was provided for in an ordinance submitted  by MYK’s young city mayor Jilian Kaye Madison Fernandez and jointly sponsored in the Sangguniang Panlungsod by Councilors Maybelyn dela Cruz-Fernandez, Jose Netu Tamayo and Jeslito Seen in August last year.

The e-library will operate from 7 am to 8 pm,  seven days a week.

Students can also bring their laptops and iPad and given  free use of WiFi.

“I’m willing to provide  more computers for our children I also asked the city finance committee to budget 100 computers for the upgrading of Barangay libraries and I am convincing Brgy captains to open new libraries,” said Fernandez. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Feb. 2, 2018)
