DAGUPAN CITY – Twenty-six barangay secretaries of Dagupan City were trained on how to properly document the various activities and meetings in their respective barangays on January 17 at the Evacuation Center of Barangay Salapingao. The training was organized by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) in partnership with the Department of Local and Interior Government (DILG).

The secretaries represented their respective Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children (BCPC).

DILG City Director Rhoderick Dawis stressed the importance of having official records of barangay events, especially so national awarding bodies can easily evaluate the accomplishments of the city as a whole.

Dawis said that barangay secretaries who are in charge of their corresponding BCPCs could help in making the city finally win the search for the Most Child-Friendly City, in which Dagupan has been a consistent finalist for three consecutive years.

“Tayo ay laging finalist pagdating sa Child-Friendly Award. Ito ang gusto sana nating makamit… na kahit papaano ay makuha na natin yung grand prize sa presidential award na ito. At hindi po ito mangyayari kung wala po ang suporta ng ating mga barangay, particularly dahil kayo ang nasa frontline ng services natin,” Dawis said.

The training consisted of four parts: agenda, the highlights or minutes of the meeting, resolution, and financial plan making.

Participants were awarded certificates after completing the training. (Zarena Amado/CIO)
