DAGUPAN CITY – This year’s Bangus Festival set sometime this summer will be filled with fun-filled activities involving families – the children, their parents and their grandparents.
This was bared by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez before city hall employees and employees of national government agencies who joined the flag raising ceremony on Monday at the city plaza.
The year 2018 has been declared by Fernandez as the Year of the Family through an Executive Order.
Among the activities of the Bangus Festival as outlined by the mayor include family games at the Tondaligan Park, lighting of the Pantal Bridge, along with a family fun run at night, a cookfest involving children and their parents, among others.
The Beach Volleyball Republic Incorporated, an organized group of well-known former and current volleyball athletes, will be on hand during festival’s opening day to hold exhibition games and competitions.
The group will also conduct brief orientation for children and their families to promote volleyball as a way of spending quality and sporty time between and among children and their families.
The cookfest will also be a family activity with children cooking the dish and their parents will serve as their master chef to guide and coach them in cooking.
“We will also light the Pantal Bridge and do a family fun-run after,” said Fernandez.
On the other hand, the Liga ng mga Barangay has endorsed Liga ng mga Barangay president Marcelino Fernandez to be this year’s Bangus Festival chairman and Pogo-Chico Punong Barangay Bryan Kua as vice-chairman.
Councilor Fernandez served as Hermano Mayor during the successful 2017 Dagupan City Fiesta celebration. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Jan. 9, 2018)
